To keep a check on how well the treatments, medications are working and also the details of the bleeding disorders or clotting disorders, Prothrombin time and Partial thromboplastin time tests are performed. The three blood cells, their characteristics and numbers are tracked through a test well known as a complete blood count. Blood disorders, bone marrow disorders, some cancers and infections in the bone marrow can be diagnosed and monitored via bone marrow biopsy.
You would be referred to a Hematologist from your primary care physician if you have conditions of the lymphatic system, bone marrow or blood disorders.
